Over the years I have studied with many different
teachers and artists. I studied at Barnstone Studios, and completed the
Art Instruction Schools 2-year mail correspondence course. To apply,
you were required to take an “Art Test” in which you had to
duplicate a drawing of a turtle or pirate from a magazine ad
Pencil is still my favorite medium. I find it
challenging to draw faces of people—famous, and not so
famous—who I feel are worth the time to put on paper. I also
enjoy drawing pets, all of whom are worthy of a pencil illustration or
even an occasional watercolor painting.
Art; my favorite class was 2 semesters of wildlife
painting taught by well-known PA wildlife artist Rod Arbogast.
I went to college at PSA&D (now PCA&D) an
art school in Lancaster, PA, where I majored in Commercial Art/Graphic
Design. I had a few semi-famous PA artists as professors there, too;
including Bob Sopchick and Dennis Burkhart, both of whom have had
artwork in numerous issues of Pennsylvania Game News magazine; as well
as, Emilie Snyder, an illustrator, Christine Welch, a photographer, and
many others.
